Amica Homeowners Insurance Review 2022

Based in Rhode Island, Amica started in 1907 as the Automobile Mutual Insurance Company of America.

It later added other types of insurance and financial products, including homeowners policies beginning in 1956, and changed its name to Amica Mutual Insurance Company.

Today, Amica comprises three separate companies with 44 offices around the U.S. that sell insurance for autos, homes, life, renters, condos, boats, motorcycles, personal liability, and businesses.

Amica is No. 3 in our Best Homeowners Insurance Companies of 2022 ratings, and also in our Cheapest Homeowners Insurance Companies of 2022.

It’s the highest-ranked company in our Best Insurance category to also make the Cheapest category. It is also financially strong, with an AM Best rating of A+, and it is available in 48 states.

While not all of its policies can be quoted online (depending on your location), it does have a mobile app that lets you report and track claims, view your policy, and pay your bill.

Amica does offer the option of dividend policies, where you may pay more upfront but you get a portion returned to you, on average 5% to 20% of your annual premium.

These policies are not available in California, Florida, Missouri, or North Carolina.
